Isla Culebra, Puerto Rico 2008

By Laura • May 20th, 2009

Culebra, Puerto Rico, June 2008.

Day one: took the ferry from Fajardo. Got the Jeep and off to Flamenco Beach, casual snorkeling (too lazy to go to Playa Carlos Rosario over the ridge).

Day two: Playa Zoni and some amazing snorkeling. The camera didn’t record it!

Culebra, even with its dryer climate, still enjoys the red glow of the Flamboyan tree. And check out those patos! jajaja!

Day three: departure day. The water colors at the dock were the most intense and eye-pleasing that I’ve ever seen. Right at the edge of the dock in the gorgeous blue water, swam a school of giant angel fish — while some smart folks dove in and relished, one last time, the warm vibrant waters of Isla Culebra.

But, we had to get on that ferry and did reluctantly…until that glimpse of El Yunque and her cloud cover, looming over Isla del Encanto, ures us that more pleasures await our return.

We rented a Jeep Wrangler X from Carlos Jeep Rental and stayed (again) at the Villa Fulladosa. Both come highly recommended.

Los Cafres!

What is the name of …
What is the name of the group that does the soundtrack?

By earlhoward on May 20th, 2009 at 2:38 pm

By earlhoward on May 20th, 2009 at 2:38 pm

But, there are many …
But, there are many rental car agenices on both Culebra and Vieques. Rent a JEEP for the rough roads! On Culebra, Carlos Jeep Rental is the best.

You can also rent a scooter!

Please forgive the bad translation!

Both are wonderful …
Both are wonderful and unique. Culebra can be explored in a little less time. But each is worth seeing.

Almost all rental car agencies forbid taking cars from Puerto Rico on the ferry to the little islands. Even if you find an agency that will allow you to take the car off Puerto Rico, the residents have priority for the car ferry and you can be bumped off with no notice.
